Interview : Nodezero Electronics

• BAXIM: Please tell us your musical career. When did you start making tracks?
• AHK: we started about 10 years ago in Ostia Lido, the district of Rome where we were born and where there were some self-production related realities of electronic music and rave parties.We grew up in this small underground culture from which were born few labels we work with today.We wasted lot of time in viyils listening and beat making.What at first seemed just a hobby began to take concrete form, until in 2008 we decided to create Nodezero Electronics and start doing things seriously, from the production, mixing, mastering and promotion.Now electronic music is an important part of our lifes.
• BAXIM: Under the influence of which musician did you start to create your own music?
• AHK: Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin, Afrika Bambaataa, Drexciya, Underground Resistance, Maggotron, Beastie Boys, DMX Crew, I-F, Cybotron, Squarepusher, Legowelt, Autechre, Aux 88, Anthony Rother, Radioactive Man, Debonaire, and obviously the italian bigger as Max Durante, Lory D, Ice One and many many more
• BAXIM: Please tell us about club music scene in Italia. Popular genre, size of event, etc.
• AHK: Here in Italy, expecially in Rome, the most appreciate genre is dance\house.One of the cause is that the owners of clubs what just make money and they haven't tryed to call some different artist that play different music.So the music scene in the clubs walks only around the profit.This kind of events could be very big and join a lot of people but with a really high price and without any kind of knowledge or consciousness about what they heard.The other genres present on the scene, that have a good attendance is Hip Hop and Tekno while Electro is really hard to finde.Expecially cause, right now, we didn't know what exactly rappresent the Electro name.You can read it on every flyer but it means electro-house or electro-tek never Miami Base or Electro Funk.
• BAXIM: What concept do you have for this "System Damnation" of your 1st release.
• AHK: "System Damnation" is a story about the relationship between human and machine in a virtual world, it is a topic that we like to propose in our music and recalls some characteristics of reference of Cyberpunk field.Science fiction is deeply rooted in Electro and we are passionate about both.We decided to give to NZ project all of our love for Dark Electro, Miami Bass, Eletrofunk and Techno-bass sounds to tell people that Robots are part of our daily life.
• BAXIM: How do you gather the remixer?
• AHK: Soundcloud has been a fundamental tool.The style of Electro has become a "niche genre" and on Soundcloud there is a large community of DJ and Producer that interact and support each other and that are really attached to these sounds and who believe in what in what they do.We asked to producers that we follow to collaborate in the first release with a remix.We also involved Romans producers with which we worked over the years and that we know in real life, in fact, if you listen to the remixes of "Ice One Electro & The Disciple" and "Raw Zombiez" tracks are 4/4 dancefloor while the rest of the release goes from dark electro to Miami Bass.We received some criticism for this "stylistic inconsistency" but we are pleased of this first release and the fact that we were able to bring together artists from all over the world.
• BAXIM: What plans do you have for Nodezero Electronics of the future?
• AHK: We are going to release new stuff, we have 3 EPs scheduled for next 2 months.Basically NZ is a platform to distribute our own things, but we like to think that, in near future, artists can be involved and interested in releasing or making music with us.So we are working hard to create quality stuff that gives to our label an identity to put in the international market.With the digital distribution forms, the web is full of little realities like us, artists that create their own label and promote their own music, but we need to create a better thing, cause we really believe in what we do.We like to say "continue to experiment and mix styles, in a dynamic space, where the essential thing is the interaction with the others".
